Ballinloghig / Baile An Lochaigh Standing Stone The R594 will take you north from Dingle Town to Ballinloghig. The Ballinloghig Road takes you to the Com an Lochaigh Valley. A private farm track from the pet farm leads you through the valley, a well known area to local hill-walkers. A small donation can be left in the honesty box at the farm gate. Scattered thoughout the valley are the remains of a large number of hut sites. I will upload a page with some of these hut sites in the near future.
The road to the pet farm passes by this standing stone, it stands close to the left handside of the roadway about 150 metres before the farm. It stands 2.15 metres in height and is 1.6 metres wide at the base, it tapers towards the top. It is situated on private land, but can be viewed clearly from the road. It appears to be aligned NW-SE. |
